The official Muv-Luv team announced during the Muv-Luv Presents 2026 livestream on October 22, 2026 that two Schwarzesmarken visual novel games will be coming to Steam. The titles will support Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. An exact release window will be announced later via the franchise’s official social media channels.
The Two Games
Both titles are spin-offs of Age’s 2006 visual novel Muv-Luv Alternative, based on original novels by Hiroki Uchida. The stories follow the 666th TSF Squadron in 1983 — 18 years before the events of Muv-Luv Alternative: Total Eclipse.
- Schwarzesmarken Kōketsu no Monshō (Crest of Red Blood): Originally released on PC in November 2015.
- Schwarzesmarken Junkyōsha-tachi: Initially planned for winter 2015, ultimately released in October 2016.
Uchida wrote the scenario for both games, with CARNELIAN handling character design and illustrations. Age’s Hirohiko Yoshida is credited as the original creator.
Source Novels and Anime
The source novel series ran for 41 chapters between 2011 and 2014, compiled into seven volumes. It was followed by the Schwarzes Marken Requiem light novel series by the same author and artist.
A 12-episode Schwarzesmarken television anime adaptation premiered in January 2016, with Crunchyroll streaming it simulcast alongside its Japanese broadcast.
