TV anime Seibetsu “Mona Lisa” no Kimi e. has been officially confirmed for a 2027 broadcast. Alongside the announcement, the production released the main visual, the first main PV, seven additional cast members, and an original ending theme song.
About the Series
Based on the manga by Yoshimura Sen, serialized on Square Enix’s Gangan ONLINE web platform, the series has surpassed one million copies in circulation. The story is set in a world where people begin physically transitioning toward their desired gender around age 12 and fully settle into either male or female by age 14. The sole exception is Arima Hinase (CV: Anzai Chika), an 18-year-old high school third-year who remains entirely genderless. The series follows her coming-of-age journey as she confronts questions of identity and love in an ensemble youth drama.
Main Visual and First PV
The newly unveiled main visual introduces Hinase alongside her childhood friends “Ritsu” and “Shiori,” as well as other classmates, marking the first official reveal of character visuals and profiles. The first main PV showcases the world of the series through its signature turquoise-blue color palette, accompanied by the newly written ending theme.
Ending Theme: imase — “Mayoi wa Hikari”
The ending theme, 「迷いは光」(Mayoi wa Hikari), is an original track written specifically for the anime by imase. In a comment about the work, imase said:
“This is a series I found myself deeply reflected in. I identified with Hinase’s conflict over having to decide her gender and the uncertainty of what lies ahead. Even after making a choice, life keeps presenting new crossroads and doubts. No choice is wrong — and that very hesitation is the light. That’s what I kept in mind while writing this song.”
imase also noted a personal love of multi-ending games and the sense of responsibility that comes with one’s choices, themes that resonated strongly with Hinase’s story.
