Bandai Namco Filmworks has officially announced full details for its upcoming anime short Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula ASURADA, a direct sequel to the 1998 OVA Future GPX Cyber Formula Sin. The short will screen in Japan alongside a new HD remastered “movie edition” of the compilation OVA Future GPX Cyber Formula: Early Days Renewal, beginning February 19, 2027. Series director Mitsuo Fukuda is overseeing the remastered movie edition.
The promotional poster for the new short was drawn by character designer Hirokazu Hisayuki and chief mechanical animation director Satoshi Shigeta.

The staff confirmed that the short is produced entirely with hand-drawn animation — no CG is used.
New Cyber Machines by Shōji Kawamori
Mechanical designer Shōji Kawamori has created two brand-new Cyber Machines for the short: the previously revealed Zenith Asurada AKF-S0/G and the newly unveiled Hō・Ōga AA-1 (romanization unconfirmed). Four production stills from the short were also released alongside the announcement.
About the Franchise
The Future GPX Cyber Formula television anime first aired in Japan in 1991, following young Hayato Kazami as he is unexpectedly bonded to Team Sugo’s Asurada GSX racing machine and must prove himself among the world’s top drivers in a high-tech future Grand Prix series. The TV series was followed by four OVA sequels — 11 (1992), Zero (1994), Saga (1996), and Sin (1998) — as well as the Early Days Renewal compilation OVA in 1996.
A new racing game, Future GPX Cyber Formula Spiral, is also in development, featuring an original storyline under the supervision of series general director Mitsuo Fukuda.
