NHK announced on Saturday that Shikao Suga will perform both the opening and ending theme songs for the upcoming television anime adaptation of Midori Satō‘s Horror Collector novel series. Suga also wrote both songs himself.
About the Horror Collector Series
Kadokawa began publishing the Horror Collector novel series in June 2015. Satō writes the novels, Norio Tsuruta serves as supervisor, and Yon provides the illustrations. The series reached its 28th volume on May 13.
Yen Press describes the story as follows:
The internet is full of creepypastas, cryptid sightings, tales of paranormal activity, and unsolved disappearances. These are mostly rumors and pranks fueled by trolls—entertainment. But the unlucky few learn the hard way that some legends are true. Many of these unfortunate souls are doomed, but their luck may change if they cross paths with the boy in the red hood. He roams from town to town and appears wherever strange things occur. Is he a light in the dark? Or living proof that monsters are all too real…?
Manga Adaptation and English Releases
A manga adaptation by Niko Yuki ran in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Gene magazine from 2021 to 2022, and was collected into a single volume in March 2022.
Yen Press is releasing both the novel series and the manga adaptation in English under its “JY for Kids” middle-grade imprint. The publisher released the sixth novel volume and the manga’s single volume in May 2025.
