The production team behind the TV anime Tenmaku no Jādūgal (天幕のジャードゥーガル) has released a behind-the-scenes video titled Production of Tenmaku no Jādūgal, giving fans an in-depth look at the making of the series.
About the Series
Based on the manga by Tomato Soup, serialized in Akita Shoten’s Souffle magazine, Tenmaku no Jādūgal is set in the 13th-century Mongol Empire. The story follows Shitara, a young girl who has lost everything to the empire and must rely solely on her wits to survive. She joins forces with Doregene, a consort who shares her deep grudge against the empire, and together they set out to shake its very foundations.
Making Video Highlights
The video sheds light on the meticulous craft behind the series, including a distinctive technique described as “erasing lines outside the main lines” — an approach born from discussions between Naoko Yamada (chief director), Abel Gongora (director), and Kenichi Yoshida (character designer and animation chief).
The team also conducted a location scouting trip to Mongolia, where the directors experienced the country’s sweeping landscapes and nomadic way of life firsthand. Those real-world impressions were then woven directly into the animation.
Also included are interviews with three cast members: Akira Sekine (Shitara), Ami Koshimizu (Doregene), and Jun Saito (Muhammad), each sharing their thoughts on the project.
