It’s official: The Bluey Movie (Japanese title: 映画 ブルーイ) will hit cinemas across Japan in summer 2027, distributed by Walt Disney Japan. The announcement came alongside the release of the film’s first teaser trailer and a poster visual.
From Series to the Big Screen — Now in 3D
Bluey is an Australian animated series following a lovable family of Australian Cattle Dogs (Blue Heelers), led by the imaginative and energetic Bluey, her younger sister Bingo, and their mum and dad. The show is available in more than 180 countries and regions worldwide and has earned major international accolades including an International Emmy Award and a BAFTA.
In the United States, Bluey has topped the overall streaming rankings — across all shows, including adult programming — for two consecutive years, according to the Nielsen ARTEY Awards. In 2025 alone, the series clocked approximately 45 billion minutes of viewing time.
The show’s enduring appeal lies in its warm, humour-filled portrayal of everyday family life, which resonates just as deeply with adults as it does with children, regularly moving grown-up viewers to tears around the world.
