The official X/Twitter account for the Tsugumi Project television anime — based on the manga by ippatu, also known as Tora Tsugumi — announced its first three cast members on Monday. Two of the three actors also appear in a newly released voice comic video for the manga.
First Cast Announcement
- Masaaki Mizunaka as Leon
- Haruki Ishiya as Dudu
- Misaki Watada as Tsugumi
Story Synopsis
Set in the far future, a soldier named Leon is torn from his family on a fabricated charge and thrown into a suicide mission: retrieve a dangerous weapon from a land overrun by massive, irradiated, mutant monsters — a place that, two centuries ago, was called Japan. Leon and his squad have little hope of survival, and one of the few clues they carry is the weapon’s name: Tsugumi.
Manga Background
Japanese artist ippatu created the manga, which French publisher Ki-oon first released in France as an original manga in 2019. Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine began serializing it in Japan in January 2021. The series concluded in September 2023, followed by an epilogue chapter, and the seventh and final compiled volume was published in Japan in November 2023.
Kodansha USA Publishing released the final English-language volume in September 2025, while French readers received it in February 2024.
