The staff of the new Hokuto no Ken -Fist of the North Star- anime, based on the legendary manga by Tetsuo Hara, announced on Wednesday that Kazuya Ichijo will voice Fang Father, leader of the Fang Clan. The character will make his first appearance in episode 12.

The anime is produced by TMS Entertainment, NIA Animation, and Kishida Studio BACU. Hiroshi Maeda directs, with Kazuma Okasawara as assistant director. Kazuhiko Inukai handles series scripts, Naoki Hisatsune designs the characters, Koji serves as animation director, and Yuki Hayashi composes the music.
Theme Songs
[Alexandros] performs the opening theme “Hallelujah”. The ending theme is a remix by Toshl of Crystal King’s “Ai o Torimodose!!” from the original anime.
Broadcast and Background
The anime premiered its first two episodes on Tokyo MX and BS11 on April 10 at 25:00 JST, effectively 1:00 a.m. on April 11, and streams worldwide on Amazon Prime Video.
The new anime is part of the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The staff has said this CG anime will hew more closely to the original manga. The original manga ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988, while the original TV anime aired 152 episodes across two seasons from 1984 to 1988.
The spin-off manga Elegy for the Henchmen: Fist of the North Star by Hiroshi Kurao has also inspired short anime episodes. The first part aired on AT-X and Tokyo MX on January 5, and the second part is scheduled for July 6.
