The official YouTube channel for Shin Gekijōban ☆ Keroro Gunsō Fukkatsu Shite Sokkō Chikyū Metsubō no Kiki de Arimasu! (New Sgt. Frog the Movie: The Earth Is in Mortal Peril as Soon as We Come Back!), the new 20th anniversary anime film, began streaming its opening scene on Friday. The clip pays homage to the original television anime, including footage presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio.

The film is set to open in Japan on June 26.

New Characters and Guest Cast

Jesse of idol group SixTONES voices two new characters simultaneously: Aruru and Deruru, a pair of brothers from the planet Keron who appear to share a past connection with Sgt. Frog’s unit.

Singer ano and comedian Soshina, who perform the film’s opening theme song “Mata Kaettekita KERO! to MARCH”, also appear as guest cast members. ano plays a researcher robot, while Soshina plays a man in Shibuya.

Staff

Yūichi Fukuda — known for the live-action Gintama, Saint Young Men, and HK/Hentai Kamen films — serves as supervising director and scriptwriter. Fumitoshi Oizaki, the original Keroro Gunsō character designer and veteran of Romeo X Juliet, Etotama, Akuma Kun, and The Gorilla God’s Go-To Girl, directs the animation at Bandai Namco Pictures. Satoshi Koike, whose credits include Etotama, Soul Eater Not!, and Princess Connect! Re:Dive season 2, is handling character design. In addition to the opening theme, ano will also perform a second song for the film titled “Kashippanashi Destiny.”

New TV Anime Coming in 2026

Alongside the film, an all-new Sgt. Frog television anime titled Keroro Gunsō ☆ is set to debut in fall 2026 with a brand-new cast, while this summer’s film will retain the franchise’s existing voice cast.

Franchise Background

The original Keroro Gunsō anime, produced by Sunrise and based on Mine Yoshizaki‘s manga, ran from 2004 to 2011 across 358 episodes and spawned five theatrical films. Crunchyroll added the series to its catalog in 2021. In North America, Discotek has been releasing all 358 episodes on SD Blu-ray Disc by season since 2021, with seasons 5–7 arriving last year.
