New details for the anime adaptation of BEAT&MOTION, the manga by Naoki Fujita, have been officially announced. Studio MAPPA — known for Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man — will produce the series, which is set to stream exclusively worldwide on Netflix in 2027. The main voice cast and full production staff have also been revealed.
About the Manga
BEAT&MOTION won the Grand Prix at MILLION TAG, Shueisha’s audition program for discovering new manga talent. The series ran in Shonen Jump+ from February 2023 to January 2025 and has been collected into six volumes. A Netflix anime adaptation was announced as part of the Grand Prix prize, and the 2027 worldwide exclusive streaming window has now been confirmed.
Story
The series centers on the worlds of music and animation. Tatsuhiko Hirayama, a young man who gave up his dream of becoming an animator, crosses paths with Niko Kashiwagi, an indie singer-songwriter who refuses to stop believing in her own dream. Though seemingly polar opposites, the two push each other to unlock their respective talents and chase a form of expression only they can create together — a “new-era youth graffiti” where sound and image resonate as one.

Alongside the announcements, the first promotional video and a teaser visual have been released, showcasing the series’ colorful world through its two leads. A special illustration and comment from MILLION TAG judge Yuji Kaku were also unveiled. BEAT&MOTION will stream exclusively on Netflix worldwide in 2027.
