Season 2 Synopsis (Contains Season 1 Spoilers)

TV Asahi describes the second season’s story as follows: after graduating from high school and officially becoming an apprentice of Shiguma Arakawa, Akane embarks on her career as a professional rakugoka under the name Akane Arakawa.

Season 1 Staff

The first season was directed by Ayumu Watanabe (Children of the Sea, Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko) at studio ZEXCS. Yu Harima served as assistant director, Kii Tanaka handled character design and chief animation direction, Michihiro Tsuchiya oversaw the series scripts, Akio Izutsu composed the music, and Kikuhiko Hayashiya acted as rakugo supervisor.

The series follows Akane Osaki, a girl captivated from childhood by her father Shinta Arakawa’s rakugo performances, who witnesses a shocking incident during his crucial audition for promotion to the shin’uchi master rank. Six years later, now a high school student, she sets her sights on reaching that same rank herself in the fiercely competitive world of rakugo.
