A two-hour special edition of 「プロフェッショナルランキング」(Professional Ranking) will air on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 20:55 to 22:57 on TBS and affiliated stations, unveiling the “Japan’s Ultimate Anime Song BEST 100” — a ranking determined by votes from 166 music professionals around the world.
A Ranking Decided by True Professionals
Professional Ranking is a show dedicated to presenting “real rankings” voted on by experts in their respective fields. This special features globally recognized anime songs, including tracks from ONE PIECE and Spirited Away (千と千尋の神隠し), as well as “Otonoke” (オトノケ) — the opening theme of Dandadan (ダンダダン) — which topped the chart of “most-streamed Japanese songs worldwide in 2025.”
Classic Anime That Won the World
The special also revisits classic anime titles that have long enjoyed overseas popularity. Tetsuwan Atom (鉄腕アトム), which became a massive hit in the United States under the name ASTRO BOY, and Kinnikuman (キン肉マン), which boasts an English-language cover of its theme song, are among the titles featured, with the program exploring the reasons behind their international appeal.

Sakagami Shinobu, the show’s chairman, said: “I was surprised to find so many anime songs from our generation in the ranking. There were lots of new discoveries since this was chosen by professionals from around the world, and when I saw the No. 1 song, I immediately agreed — the impact I felt the first time I heard it was incredible. I also sang more anime songs in this episode than in any other since the show began, and I was glad to have Anmika there, who actually knows the anime songs I sing.”
Nakajima Kento, the presenter, said: “Our generation understands anime from the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, as well as the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s — we’re right in the middle. Hearing the Tetsuwan Atom theme, which I’ve loved since childhood, instantly made me feel the depth of Japanese culture, and these two hours really drove home just how powerful Japanese anime truly is.”
