Ryuto to Amagami (りゅうとあまがみ), the manga by Kakumaru Shibarou, is teaming up with the Furucho Sado Minato Tanabata Matsuri BEER GARDEN in Furucho 7 festival in Niigata City. As part of the collaboration, a special menu recreating the local Niigata cuisine featured in the manga will be served at the Hotel Italia-ken booth from July 3 to 5, 2026.
About Ryuto to Amagami
Set in Niigata City in 1885 (Meiji 18), the story follows Will, a young British girl, and Ryusaku, a blunt but talented young cook. Will initially declares she hates Niigata, but through the city’s local food and culinary culture, she gradually opens her heart to the town and its people. The manga’s second compiled volume is scheduled for release on July 28, 2026.
Special Menu at Hotel Italia-ken
Hotel Italia-ken is a long-established hotel that appears in the manga itself, and is also historically noted as the first establishment in Japan to serve meat sauce. The special collaboration menu includes:
- Iwashi no Suiri (鰯の酢煎り) — sardines sautéed in vinegar
- Ginger Miso Kensan-yaki (生姜味噌のけんさん焼き) — grilled rice balls with ginger miso
- Kuruma-fu Ageni (車麩の揚げ煮) — fried and simmered wheat gluten
- Italia-ken’s classic meat sauce
Each dish is a real-life recreation of food depicted in the manga, offering fans a genuine taste of Meiji-era Niigata.
