Anime fans in Japan have two unmissable Sunday nights to look forward to this July. BS12 Twellv has announced that its “Sunday Anime Theater” (日曜アニメ劇場) programming block will feature two Detective Conan crossover specials in July 2026, both broadcast free-to-air nationwide.
July 12 – Lupin III vs. Detective Conan THE MOVIE (Uncut)
Lupin III vs. Detective Conan THE MOVIE airs on July 12 at 7:30 p.m. in a complete, uncut version. Originally released in cinemas in 2013, the film brings together two of anime’s biggest icons — Lupin III and Detective Conan — for a dream showdown.
The story kicks off when Kaito Kid appears at a Tokyo jewelry store and makes off with a precious gem. Conan, hot on his trail, deduces that the thief is actually Lupin III in disguise. Lupin’s real target, it turns out, is a legendary treasure held by an elderly Japanese man: the “Cherry Sapphire.” Inspector Zenigata rushes to Japan and joins the Metropolitan Police in pursuit, while Conan spots Lupin’s partner Jigen lurking in the background of a TV news report about world-famous idol Emilio’s visit to Japan. With familiar faces from both franchises converging, the race is on — will Lupin claim his prize, or will Conan crack the case first?
July 26 – TV Series Special Edit: Detective Conan vs. Kaito Kid
The TV Series Special Compilation Detective Conan vs. Kaito Kid follows on July 26 at 7:00 p.m. This theatrical special edit, which screened ahead of the 2024 feature film Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, chronicles the origin of Kaito Kid, the Moonlit Sorcerer, and his first fateful clash with Conan/Shinichi, featuring newly produced footage alongside classic TV episodes such as “Conan vs. Kaito Kid” and “The Gathered Famous Detectives! Kudo Shinichi vs. Kaito Kid.”
The story follows Kuroba Kaito, a second-year student at Ekoda High School, who discovers a hidden room in his home and learns that his father Kuroba Toichi — a world-renowned magician — was secretly Kaito Kid, and was murdered by a mysterious organization. Determined to uncover the truth, Kaito dons his father’s costume and becomes the second Kaito Kid, pursuing both the legendary “Big Jewel” and the shadowy group behind his father’s death.
Kid’s latest mark is the legendary aquamarine known as the “Miracle of the Deep (Blue Wonder).” Suzuki Jirokichi, adviser to the Suzuki Zaibatsu and a relative of Sonoko, issues Kid a challenge using the Big Jewel as bait. Kid accepts — but this time, Conan’s razor-sharp deductions stand between the phantom thief and a clean getaway.
