The manga comicalization of Kuchi ni Kansuru Anketo (“A Survey About Mouths”), the occult horror novel by author Sesji (背筋) — known for works such as Kinki Chihō no Aru Basho ni Tsuite — launched on Shonen Jump+ on July 4. The adaptation marks the platform debut of manga artist Oshimi Shuzo (押見修造), who is handling the artwork.
Story
The story follows a group of university students who visit a cemetery rumored to be a paranormal hotspot on a dare. One month after that night, one of the female participants dies by suicide. As each member of the group recounts what they witnessed and experienced, the things they saw — and the things they have been hiding — gradually come to light.
A Distinct Take
According to the announcement, the manga version will offer a perspective different from both the original novel and the live-action film adaptation. It will be serialized on a weekly schedule as a short-run concentrated release.
The live-action film adaptation, starring Itagaki Rihito (板垣李光人) in the lead role, opened in Japanese cinemas on July 3 — the day before the manga launch.
