As part of the 10th anniversary project for the anime Aikatsu Stars!, a revival screening of Gekijouban Aikatsu Stars! is running under the title 「劇場版アイカツスターズ！」-Anniversary Stars- through July 24. To mark the occasion, a special stage greeting was held on July 4 at Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo, featuring voice actresses Tomita Miyu (Nijino Yume) and Asai Ayaka (Sakuraba Rola).
Looking Back on 10 Years
Tomita opened the event with a smile, noting that the girls who watched the film as children ten years ago must now be adults, while the dedicated older fans remain just as devoted. Asai recalled that the two had held a stage greeting at the very same venue a decade ago, then turned to Tomita with a fond memory: back then, Tomita was a teenage student who couldn’t paint her nails due to school rules and eagerly said she wanted to grow up so she could do just that. “That very girlish side of her reminded me of Yume,” Asai said warmly. Tomita cheerfully held up her hands to show off her nails: “I’ve got them done today!”
Favourite Scenes and Recording Memories
Asked about their favourite moments in the film, both actresses chose the falling-out between Yume and Rola — and the subsequent reconciliation. Asai revealed that the reconciliation scene required many retakes and extensive discussion with the staff, until eventually everyone agreed to forget all the deliberation and simply perform freely. “In the end we just acted from an honest place, and I think that’s what made it work,” she said. Tomita added that the scene was also a visual highlight of the film, and reflected that her blank-slate approach at the time — not overthinking things — may have been exactly what the performance needed.
Asai also drew laughs and applause when she pointed out that the acrylic stand merchandise released for the revival does not include Rola. “I immediately messaged Rie-chan (Fujishiro Rie, Rola’s singing voice) — our girl isn’t in there!” she said in mock protest.
The Bond Between Yume and Rola
On the relationship between their characters, Tomita said: “Through this film they became true friends in the deepest sense — best friends, comrades, and rivals all at once. Together they’re unstoppable, but each shines on her own too. It’s a really wonderful dynamic.” Asai described it as “a one-of-a-kind bond,” explaining that watching Yume pushed Rola to keep striving. Tomita responded: “And Yume can keep going because Rola is there — it works both ways.”
Excitement for the New Film
The conversation turned to the brand-new feature film Aikatsu Stars! ～Hoshihoshi no Progress～, scheduled for early 2027. Neither actress has begun recording yet and both said they had been given very few details, so they indulged in some wishful thinking about scenes they’d love to see. Tomita said even a simple tea-party scene with all the characters smiling would bring her to tears — “that’s a mother’s perspective, I suppose (laughs)” — and that she was also hoping for live-performance sequences and new songs. Asai said she wanted Rola to have an impressively cool entrance, and wondered aloud about the film’s timeline. Tomita then grinned and said, “Actually, I already know.” Asai’s loud exclamation of surprise sent the audience into laughter.
Tomita also expressed how meaningful it was to reunite with the cast: “Everyone has grown so much through their various projects since then. Getting to do Aikatsu together again is just wonderful!” Asai agreed wholeheartedly: “It really is like a class reunion. I can’t wait.”

Closing the event, Asai told the audience: “It makes me so happy that so many people still love Aikatsu Stars! and came out today. I feel that it’s everyone’s passion that made this revival and the new film possible. I’m looking forward to early next year just as much as all of you. Thank you so much for today.” Tomita added: “Today I savoured the joy of introducing myself as the voice of Nijino Yume once more. I vividly remember how, after recording the final episode of the TV series, the whole cast said we’d always stay ready to come back. That moment is almost here now — I am beyond excited! Let’s celebrate this 10th anniversary together!”
