Warner Bros. Japan took the stage at Anime Expo to unveil a wave of new details for Devils’ Crest, the upcoming television anime adaptation of Reki Kawahara‘s Demons’ Crest novel series. The announcements included the first English-subtitled promotional video, a key visual, the opening theme song artist, and a confirmed worldwide streaming launch date.

Streaming Date

Devils’ Crest will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video on November 6. The promo video previews the opening theme song “Shinka” (Evolution), performed by popular Japanese artist Ado.

Story

The latest VRMMORPG, Actual Magic, has trapped an entire sixth-grade class in a deadly game with no way out. Eleven-year-old Yuuma and his friends face relentless dangers — a classmate transformed into a monster, colossal beasts at every turn — with their only ally being the demon Valac, who has possessed Yuuma’s twin sister. Guided by Valac, Yuuma’s party ventures out to rescue their missing friend Nagi, only to stumble upon an unexpected encounter.

About the Source Material

Kawahara launched the novel series in November 2022. Kadokawa has released four volumes, with the fourth arriving on December 10. Yen Press published the third English-language volume on December 30. A vertical-scrolling manga adaptation by Tomoe (art) and Koroku Takano (script) has been running on Wit Studio’s HykeComic platform since November 2022, with Kadokawa releasing the first compiled volume in June 2024.

About Reki Kawahara

Kawahara is best known as the creator of the Sword Art Online novel series, which he began in 2001 and serialized online from 2002 to 2008. Dengeki Bunko has been publishing a print edition since 2009, and the series — now in its 28th volume — has spawned multiple anime seasons, films, and spinoffs, including two anime films based on the Sword Art Online: Progressive spinoff. He is also the author of Accel World and The Isolator: Realization of Absolute Solitude, all of which Yen Press publishes in English.
