The summer 2026 anime Nijuseiki Denki Mokuroku -Eureka Evrika- has revealed the synopsis and advance scene cuts for its second episode, “Mystery of the Catalogue” (目録の謎), set to air on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
About the Series
Based on the light novel Nijuseiki Denki Mokuroku by Yuki Hiroshi — winner of the Encouragement Award at the 8th Kyoto Animation Award — the series is directed by Ota Minoru and produced by Kyoto Animation. The studio ventures into new creative territory with art backgrounds inspired by Impressionist painting and meticulous animation craft.
Set in an alternate early-20th-century Kyoto where only steam technology flourished, the city is perpetually shrouded in smoke. A skeptical young boy who lost his brother — his partner in dreaming of an “age of electricity” — crosses paths with a devout young girl carrying both her dreams and her regret over her late mother. Their meeting around the secrets of the “Twentieth-Century Electrical Catalogue” sets a story of renewal in motion.
Episode 2 Synopsis: “Mystery of the Catalogue”
The missing Nijuseiki Denki Mokuroku resurfaces. Kihachi doubts its authenticity while Inako believes in it wholeheartedly — but before they can settle the matter, Yosuke closes in on them.
Kihachi fights back desperately with his own handmade inventions, but is overpowered by steam force, and both Inako and the catalogue fall into Yosuke’s hands.
Determined to uncover the truth, Kihachi sneaks into the Momokawa household and discovers that Inako is being pressured into an unwanted marriage with Yosuke for the sake of her family. He manages to free Inako from where she has been locked away in a storehouse — but Yosuke spots them and gives chase.
Will Kihachi and Inako manage to escape from Yosuke, who will stop at nothing to claim the Electrical Catalogue?
