Golden Phantom (ゴールデンファントム), a new manga by Daiki Yamazaki (山嵜大輝), released its first volume today, July 22, 2026, through Kodansha. The series is currently serialized in Monthly Afternoon (月刊アフタヌーン).
Synopsis
Shingo Asahina visits an amusement park with his wife and daughter to celebrate his daughter’s middle school graduation. There, he spots a bloodied, mysterious man being chased and, on impulse, hides him aboard a Ferris wheel gondola.
The stranger warns Shingo that “in 30 minutes, this amusement park will become hell,” and claims the only way to stop it is to “borrow” Shingo’s body. Shingo agrees — but when he regains consciousness, the world has been transformed by a catastrophic event known as the “Dairakusai” (大落災), a disaster of unprecedented global scale that has left civilization in ruins.
With no knowledge of whether his wife and daughter survived, Shingo resolves to find them, clinging to the belief that they are still alive. Along the way, he encounters a mysterious young woman named Sophie (ソフィー).
