To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic super robot anime Chōdenji Robo Combattler V (超電磁ロボ コン・バトラーV), a special commemorative video has been published on YouTube. The series originally aired from April 1976 to May 1977, and this year marks half a century since its debut.
A Two-Part Tribute Video
Produced by Toei Tsukun Laboratory, the special video is divided into two distinct sections. The first is a memorial segment revisiting iconic scenes from the original series, set to the show’s beloved theme song — featuring the heroic exploits of Hyōma and his teammates as well as their battles against Garuda. The second half kicks in seamlessly after the Combattler V combination sequence and the 50th anniversary logo appear on screen, transitioning fully into brand-new full CG animation.
The Birth of Combattler V6
In the CG segment, Combattler V finds itself in an unprecedented crisis under relentless assault from enemy robots. At the moment of greatest peril, the sixth unit — Battle Armor — arrives and initiates a new combination sequence called “Armored Combine,” allowing Combattler V to evolve into its most powerful form yet: Combattler V6.
Collectibles and Model Kits Announced
Alongside the video, several merchandise announcements were made. The Chogokin Soul GX-121 Combattler V6 is set for release in February 2027. This all-new figure features updated sculpting, articulation, and transformation mechanisms, and includes the Battle Armor unit so collectors can assemble the complete Combattler V6 configuration.
Additionally, the plastic model brand SMP [SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT] has announced that a Combattler V kit is now in development as part of its lineup, giving fans and collectors even more to look forward to.
