To celebrate the 10th anniversary of beloved figure-skating anime Yuri!!! on ICE, a new 15-second commercial has been released featuring original narration recorded by Junichi Suwabe, the voice of Victor Nikiforov, timed to the launch of the Yuri!!! on ICE 10th Anniversary SPECIAL Blu-ray & CD BOX limited edition set.
About Yuri!!! on ICE
Created by Mitsuro Kubo and director Sayo Yamamoto, Yuri!!! on ICE was produced by MAPPA and aired on TV Asahi and other networks from October to December 2016. The series earned widespread acclaim for its remarkably authentic skating sequences, with all choreography handled by professional choreographer Kenji Miyamoto.
The story follows Yuri Katsuki, a Japanese figure skater who suffers a crushing defeat at the Grand Prix Final and retreats to his hometown, torn between retirement and pressing on. His life changes when he encounters Russian prodigy Yuri Plisetsky and five-time world champion Victor Nikiforov. The anime’s dynamic camera angles and fluid animation brought competitive skating to life in ways impossible to capture in real broadcasts, captivating audiences around the world.
New CM: Victor’s Voice Marks a Decade
The newly released clip showcases the tension-filled preparations of six skaters heading into the Grand Prix Final, including the iconic moment where Yuri Katsuki kisses the pair ring shared with Victor to steel his nerves, while Victor watches on warmly. Suwabe’s fresh narration as Victor breathes new life into these memorable scenes, building anticipation for the anniversary release.
