Summer 2026 anime Mushoku Tensei III: Jobless Reincarnation aired its sixth episode, titled “Domestic Dispute Again?”, on August 2, 2026. The episode reunited protagonist Rudeus Greyrat with Sara, the tsundere adventurer from Season 2, and quickly became one of the most-discussed episodes of the season online.

About the Series

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is based on the web novel by Rifujin na Magonote, serialized on Shōsetsuka ni Narō since 2012. It follows a 34-year-old shut-in who is reincarnated as Rudeus Greyrat in a fantasy world, determined to live his new life to the fullest. Season 1 aired in January 2021, Season 2 in 2023, and Season 3 — which began July 5, 2026 — focuses on the “Eris Training Arc”, centering on Eris Boreas Greyrat’s rigorous path to mastery. Animation is produced by Studio Bind.

Episode 6: “Domestic Dispute Again?”

The episode opens with Rudeus doting on his daughter Lucy, born to Sylphiette. Suzanne, a former member of the adventurer party “Counter Arrow,” has retired and moved to the same town to serve as Lucy’s nanny. When Rudeus asks about Sara — another ex-member who had developed feelings for him in Season 2 before their relationship ended — Suzanne reveals she is still active as an adventurer. Fans immediately lit up online: “Sara’s back?!” and “I’ve been so curious about her.”

An Unexpected Reunion

Roxy is hired to supplement the guard detail for Princess Ranoa of Ranoa and Second Princess Ariel of the Asura Kingdom on a pilgrimage. The original escort party, “Amazones Ace,” is short-staffed due to illness, and Roxy brings Rudeus along. When the group meets “Amazones Ace,” Rudeus is stunned to find a grown-up Sara among them. Sara murmurs, “So it’s you,” equally surprised. Viewers reacted with “Oh no,” “This is awkward,” and “So this is the ‘domestic dispute.'”

Ariel and Sylphiette’s Thoughtfulness

During the journey, Rudeus keeps dodging Sara whenever she tries to approach him. Sylphiette, traveling as Ariel’s guardian mage, nudges him to at least talk to her. When Rudeus still hesitates, Ariel steps in with a clever ruse — suddenly claiming she wants some yellow fruit she spotted along the road and glancing pointedly at Sara. She asks Sara to go fetch it and suggests Rudeus and “Fitz” (Sylphiette’s alias) accompany her. Sylphiette simply says, “Rudy alone is enough. He won’t run.” Fans praised the duo: “Sylphiette is incredible,” “She can read the room perfectly,” and “Ariel and Sylphiette working in tandem!”

Two People Who Were Young Once

Realizing he has been running away, Rudeus walks with Sara to collect the fruit. On a snow-covered path, the two gradually ease back into normal conversation. When Sara mentions that an all-female party is “stress-free — no messy romantic drama,” Rudeus can’t help but smile bitterly. He apologizes, Sara snaps that she doesn’t need his apology and storms ahead, then sits down on the roadside. Rudeus apologizes again — and Sara admits she had been wanting to apologize to him too. Fans responded warmly: “They were both just young back then,” “Good to see them finally be honest with each other,” and “I thought it would be a disaster but I’m glad they talked it out.”

Original author Rifujin na Magonote posted on social media: “The domestic dispute resolved peacefully! Good for you, Rudeus. I guess we can drop the ‘muddy swamp’ label now!”

Sara and Suzanne’s story is also depicted in the three-volume manga spinoff Mushoku Tensei III: The Depressed Mage Arc. The reunion with Sara — not present in the original web novel — appears in Volume 23 of the light novel.

The Birth of Sword King Eris

After the escort mission ends, Sara parts with Rudeus with a parting shot: “Your two wives seem to get along well — don’t go comparing them.” Rudeus assures both wives there will be no third, yet the image of a red-haired back flashes through his mind. Meanwhile, Gal Farion, the “Sword God,” announces to his disciples that he intends to name a new “Sword King” — the first since Ghislaine. Eris faces off against Gal’s daughter Nina, and dispatches her in a single strike. “Eris wins!” “She ended it in one blow!” Eris is officially crowned Sword King.

Fan Reactions and Next Episode

Post-broadcast reactions included: “They got a proper goodbye this time,” “Sylphiette is the perfect wife,” “Great to see how much Rudeus has grown,” “Looks like there’s a flag for a third wife,” and “I laughed when Eris appeared right after Rudeus said there’d be no third wife.” Voice actress Minori Fujiidera, who plays Princess Ranoa, also revealed she watched Season 2 live as a high school student and called her involvement in the series “a great honor.”

The next episode is titled “Fourth Stage,” prompting mixed anticipation: “The daily-life arc is probably ending next week — a big story development is finally coming,” and “What is the Fourth Stage? That sounds a little scary…”
