Japanese streaming platform ABEMA will open a dedicated channel for the anime adaptation of Black Jack, the classic manga by Osamu Tezuka. The channel runs from August 8 at 20:00 through August 15 at 25:00 (JST), broadcasting episodes every day.
Four Series, 94 Episodes in Total
The channel will cover all four anime entries in the franchise, totalling 94 episodes:
- TV Anime Series — the main television run
- OVA
- Black Jack 21 — a 2006 follow-up series produced by the same staff as the TV anime, reimagined with a continuous serialised story arc rather than the original self-contained episode format
- Black Jack: Inochi wo Meguru Yottsu no Kiseki (Black Jack: Four Miracles of Life) — a TV special from 2003, created to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Yomiuri TV and the 30th anniversary of the Black Jack manga. It adapts four episodes from the original manga, and the setting established here was later carried over into the main TV anime series.
Free Replay for One Week
After each broadcast, viewers will be able to watch aired episodes free of charge for one week, giving both longtime fans and newcomers a chance to catch up on the full Black Jack anime catalogue at their own pace.
