The TV anime Hanakappa (はなかっぱ) is getting a grand birthday celebration with the event 「はなかっぱ生誕祭 POP UP ショップ＆カフェ in SHIBUYA109」. Timed to mark the character’s birthday on August 7, the event runs from August 21 to September 7 at two locations: the WALLMA space on the 8th floor of SHIBUYA109 Shibuya (Tokyo) and the WALLMA space on the 2nd floor of SHIBUYA109 Abeno (Osaka).
Exclusive Merchandise
Both venues will sell a lineup of event-exclusive goods themed around a “eternal summer” aesthetic — featuring hibiscus flowers and a sun-tanned Hanakappa illustration evoking the spirit of Heisei-era SHIBUYA109. Items on sale include:
- 常夏フォンタブストラップ — a summer-themed phone tab strap
- PVCクリアポーチ — a clear PVC pouch
- マルチピタッとシート — a multi-use adhesive sheet
- 花咲くりっぷ — a floral lip balm
Café Menu at the Shibuya Location
The Shibuya branch will also host a dedicated café space serving food and drinks inspired by the world of Hanakappa, including:
- やまびこ村名物 きゅうりバーガー（マスタード減量中） — a cucumber burger, a specialty of Yamabiko Village (with reduced mustard)
- ももかっぱちゃんのカレー — Momokappa-chan’s curry
- フラワードリンク — a flower-themed drink
The Shibuya venue will also display an oversized panel featuring newly drawn artwork by Akiyama Emi, the illustrator behind the Hanakappa spin-off series. The piece depicts Momokappa-chan and Ageru-chan reimagined in a “JK-style humanization” (擬人化) design — presenting the characters as high school girls.
Social Media Giveaway and Retail Collaborations
Starting August 7, the official Hanakappa X account (@hanakappa_PR) is running a birthday giveaway campaign. Fans who follow the account and repost the designated post will be entered into a lottery for special birthday-commemorative prizes.
Additionally, retailers including Thank You Mart and Shimamura will be releasing their own Hanakappa birthday merchandise in the coming weeks.
