The TV anime Yani Neko (ヤニねこ), based on the manga by Nyan Nyan Factory serialized in Kodansha’s Young Magazine, has announced that voice actress Hara Yumi will join the cast as Sato Shizue, the mother of protagonist Yani Neko — whose real name is Sato Yaniko.
Sato Shizue makes her first appearance in Episode 7, titled “Nya mo Oya kara Umareta nya” (Everyone Was Born from Their Parents, nya), which begins airing on August 13. A preview trailer is already available, giving fans an early listen to Hara Yumi’s performance in the role.
Episode 7 Story Highlights
The episode packs in several comedic segments: Yani Neko accidentally draws a magic circle while tossing and turning in her sleep, summoning a “Nicotine Demon”; she takes a part-time cleaning job at a suspicious underground facility through a temp agency; and the kind-hearted landlord welcomes Penpen Neko into the apartment building after the latter’s home is destroyed by a typhoon.
