Ahead of the season, Anime!Anime! ran a reader poll asking which summer 2026 anime fans were most looking forward to, drawing a strong response. Now that the season is underway, the site followed up with a new survey — “Summer 2026 Anime: Which One Are You Pushing Most Right Now?” — to find out whether the shows that actually aired lived up to, or even exceeded, expectations.
The poll ran from 28 July to 1 August, with respondents split almost evenly between male and female readers. In terms of age, roughly 25 percent were 19 or under, around 20 percent were in their twenties, and approximately 35 percent were in their thirties.
The Results
Votes were cast across 37 titles currently airing in the summer 2026 season. Second place was shared by Bungou Stray Dogs WAN! 2 (文スト わん！2) and Yomi no Tsugai (黄泉のツガイ), both of which attracted passionate support from readers.
First place went to an original title that captured fans with its completely unpredictable story developments — a quality readers highlighted as the true appeal of an anime not adapted from existing source material. As one voter put it, “not being able to read what comes next at all is the real thrill of an original title.”
