To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the TV anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), streaming platform ABEMA launched a dedicated “Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu ABEMA Channel” from Sunday, August 16, 2026 — and kicked things off with a quiz that has left fans completely stumped.
The Quiz That Broke the Internet
The official ABEMA Anime social media account posted a challenge inspired by the series’ legendary “Endless Eight” arc, asking: “Can you tell which loop each scene is from?! Which loop do Haruhi, Yuki, and Mikuru’s yukata outfits each belong to?” Answering correctly requires an almost obsessive attention to the subtle differences between each of the arc’s eight episodes.
The Endless Eight arc, which originally aired in 2009, depicted the characters reliving the same summer vacation over and over across eight consecutive episodes — each nearly identical in plot but differing in small visual details, including the yukata worn by the characters.
The quiz quickly went viral, with fans flooding the comments section with reactions such as “Too hard, I’m dying,” “This feels genuinely unhinged,” “The difficulty level is absolutely brutal,” and “I can’t believe someone actually came up with this.”
About the Series
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu is a TV anime adapted from the light novel series by Tanigawa Nagaru. The first season aired in 2006, and a revised broadcast in 2009 expanded the run to a full 28 episodes with new content. A theatrical film, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya), was also released, continuing the story beyond the TV series.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, ABEMA streamed all 28 episodes of the 2009 TV broadcast alongside The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya for free every day from August 16 to 19. In a particularly fitting tribute, all eight Endless Eight episodes were streamed back-to-back in a 12-hour marathon starting at noon on August 17 — the very date on which the Endless Eight loop begins within the story itself.
All titles remain available to watch free of charge for two weeks following their broadcast dates on ABEMA.
