Pony Canyon announced on Friday that director Seiji Kishi will helm a brand-new original television anime series titled Maiden Blood, slated to debut in 2027. Details regarding international distribution will be revealed at a later date.
Story: A World Where Blood Is Everything
Maiden Blood is a dark fantasy action anime set in the aftermath of Armageddon — the prophesied final war between good and evil — whose destined outcome was upended. Humanity’s desperate, selfish wish to survive fed power to an Evil God, resulting in eight billion people being offered as sacrifices. Only a small number of survivors remain, condemned to exist as playthings of the Evil God in a world where the sun will never rise again and the laws of nature have collapsed.
In this broken world, the single most valuable commodity is human blood — currency, fuel, and weapon alike. Mages have devised a forbidden ritual that transforms a girl’s blood into a blade capable of slaying demons. These cursed blood warriors represent humanity’s last hope against the forces that have overrun the world.
At the center of the story are two sisters: Epica, the youngest and mightiest blood warrior, whose soul has been stolen away, and Eva, the elder sister who has been unable to walk since birth. Yet in the entire world, only Eva’s blood holds the power to awaken Epica’s dormant strength. Bound by fate in the darkness of the world’s end, the two sisters stand as humanity’s final weapon.
