Toei Animation officially announced on Wednesday that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, the upcoming television anime series, will premiere on October 11. The announcement was accompanied by a brand-new trailer titled “Super Surge,” a fresh key visual, and the reveal of both theme song artists.

The new trailer previews the ending theme “Kan Peki No Peki” performed by VK Blanka, as well as the opening theme “ONOGAMI” by MEGATERA･ZERO.
New York Comic Con Advance Screening
Before its broadcast debut, the first episode will screen in advance at the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Special Panel at New York Comic Con on October 8. The series will then begin its regular run on Fuji TV and affiliated stations on October 11 at 11:15 p.m. JST (10:15 a.m. EDT).

An “Enhanced” Reimagining
Akio Iyoku revealed that the project has been in development for several years, describing it as an “enhanced” edition of the original Dragon Ball Super anime featuring a full reconstruction of the story alongside new and redrawn cuts. The official announcement elaborated:
“The project features extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects, and a full reconstruction of the story. Living up to the name ENHANCED, this edition employs the latest visual expression to deliver greater power and immersion across all scenes, especially the battle sequences. The result is an ENHANCED edition that expresses Akira Toriyama’s original idea and worldbuilding more accurately, that will be broadcasted with highly satisfying quality.”
The staff noted that “the anime Dragon Ball Super … is set to begin anew as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus in Fall 2026.”
Story Synopsis
Several years after the climactic battle against Majin Buu, Earth has finally found a brief moment of peace. But at the same time, Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long, deep slumber. Even Kai and Supreme Kai — fully aware of Beerus’s terrifying power to obliterate entire planets — watch his awakening with dread.
When Beerus catches wind of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, he sets his sights on Goku. With the mightiest being in the universe now targeting Earth, the planet faces grave peril — and an earth-shattering cosmic battle between the God of Destruction and Goku and his allies is set to shake the entire universe.

The original Dragon Ball Super premiered in July 2015 and ran for 131 episodes until March 2018. Funimation and Crunchyroll streamed the series simulcast, while Funimation later released it on home video. The English dub launched on Funimation’s streaming platform in December 2016 and debuted on Adult Swim’s Toonami block in January 2017.
