The Ramparts of Ice anime has officially announced its theme song artists for the upcoming second season, which is scheduled to premiere on October 1. The new season will air every Thursday at 11:56 p.m. JST on TBS and 27 affiliated channels, and will also be available to stream on Netflix and other services in Japan.
Story
The series is based on the webtoon manga by Agasawa (also known for You and I Are Polar Opposites), which was originally serialized on the LINE Manga app from January 2020 to April 2022. Shueisha published the 14th and final compiled volume — reorganized for the volume format — in February 2025.
The story follows Koyuki Hikawa, an aloof high school student who struggles to connect with others and keeps people at arm’s length. Despite spending most of her time alone at school, Minato Amemiya persistently tries to get closer to her. The bittersweet coming-of-age story also revolves around the popular girl Miki and the easygoing Yōta — four young people, each with their own complicated inner world.

The first season debuted on TBS on April 2 and launched globally on Netflix the same day. The source manga has earned considerable recognition: it ranked #15 in the male readers’ category of Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2024, received a nomination for the 69th Shogakukan Manga Awards in 2023, placed second in the “Vertical Scroll Comic” section of the second Rakuten Kobo E-book Awards in May 2024, and ranked #2 on AnimeJapan’s sixth “Most Wanted Anime Adaptation” poll in 2023.
