A new manga series, GLITCH WITCH, officially launched on Yanmaga Web on September 9, set within the same universe and timeline as Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell by Shiro Masamune, who serves as the original concept creator. Art duties are handled by Naoki Higashi.

Story

The story takes place on April 10, 2029 — the very moment Motoko Kusanagi and Aramaki are in the process of establishing Public Security Section 9, better known as the Ghost in the Shell unit. Meanwhile, in the United States, a series of incidents breaks out. As the FBI, AI researchers, and the military race to investigate, Motoko Kusanagi witnesses a pivotal battle unfold. New chapters will be released every other Wednesday on Yanmaga Web.

About Ghost in the Shell

Shiro Masamune’s original Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell manga began serialization in 1989, following the cyborg-bodied Motoko Kusanagi as she leads Section 9 against increasingly complex and violent crime in a high-tech future. The franchise has since expanded into numerous adaptations, including the landmark animated film directed by Mamoru Oshii, multiple anime series, and a Hollywood live-action film.

Most recently, a new TV anime adaptation of Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell began airing in July, with its final episode broadcast on September 8.
