The advance screening event for TV anime Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku restart (Magical Girl Raising Project restart) took place on September 19 at Shinagawa The Grand Hall in Tokyo, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of fans for a packed evening of live performances, panel discussions, and the world premiere of Episode 1.

Who Was on Stage

Attendees on stage included Honoka Inoue (voice of Pechka), Reina Kondo (Shadow Gale), Hime Sawada (Nokko-chan), ending theme artist Daisy×Daisy, director Hiroyuki Hashimoto, and general producer Keiichi Sato. MC duties were handled by Sora Tokui.

Why Restart After 10 Years?

The event opened with a mock “secret meeting” between Director Hashimoto and Producer Sato, in which the two humorously recounted how the new anime project came to be. When asked why the series was being restarted a full decade after the original anime, Sato replied, “If anything, I kept wondering why we hadn’t restarted it sooner.” He noted that his background outside the anime industry meant he was unaware of conventional wisdom in the field — and that ignorance, he said, was ultimately what allowed the project to happen.

A Blazing Live Performance, Then Episode 1

Following the opening segment, Daisy×Daisy took the stage in a striking red dress and delivered a full-length performance of the insert song 「Re:START」, backed by a special video combining anime footage with on-screen lyrics. Her powerful high-register vocals immediately ignited the crowd. The moment her performance ended, the hall went dark — and without pause, the event transitioned directly into the world premiere screening of Episode 1, titled 「ハローデイジー」(Hello Daisy).

Once the episode concluded and the ending credits began rolling alongside 「ReMind」, Daisy×Daisy returned to the stage for a seamless live performance of the ending theme — as though the opening and ending of the anime were being performed live in real time, leaving the audience stunned.

18 Character Songs, All by Daisy×Daisy

During the latter half of the event, MC Tokui announced that each of the 18 magical girls in Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku restart would receive her own individual character song — a revelation that drew an immediate roar from the audience. The crowd’s excitement only grew when it was further revealed that Daisy×Daisy had personally handled the lyrics, composition, production, and artwork design for all 18 tracks.

Producer Sato returned to the stage to explain the thinking behind the project: the character songs were intended to illuminate sides of each character that the main story alone could not fully explore. To ensure a consistent level of passion and quality across all 18 songs, he said, the decision was made to entrust the entire project to a single creator with a deep love for the source material.

Panel Highlights and Laughs

The cast talk segment produced several memorable moments. Everyone on stage agreed that Honoka Inoue’s performance was “Pechka herself.” Director Hashimoto described Reina Kondo’s voice as “a voice you want to hear saying mean things,” to which Kondo shot back, “So you’re saying it’s a masochist voice?” — drawing a burst of laughter from the entire hall. The director also revealed that he had had his eye on Hime Sawada for the role of Nokko-chan all along, saying he felt she was the only one who could play the part.

Closing Remarks

In their closing statements, all participants expressed heartfelt attachment to the series. Standout comments included “This work is filled with ten years’ worth of love and feeling” and “It is absolutely going to be a huge success.” The event closed on a high note, with anticipation for the broadcast running at a fever pitch.
