Fans of Initial D (頭文字D) have a new piece of merchandise to look forward to: an officially licensed Heat Change Mug that reveals iconic scenes and memorable quotes from the series the moment hot liquid is poured inside. Pre-orders are currently open, but stock is limited.
About Initial D
Created by Shuichi Shigeno, Initial D is a landmark manga centred on high-speed street racing that has sold over 56 million copies in total and is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2025. The series is credited with sparking widespread interest in cars — particularly the Toyota AE86 driven by protagonist Takumi Fujiwara — among younger generations, and left a lasting mark on the automotive world. Its blend of racing action and deeply human storytelling won fans across Asia and Europe alike. The franchise continued with MF Ghost, and the latest entry in the “Fastest on Public Roads” series, Subaru to Suisei (昴と彗星), is currently serialising.
The Heat Change Mug
The mug features a sleek, understated black design at room temperature. Pour in a hot drink and the heat-reactive coating activates, bringing famous scenes and signature lines from Initial D to life on the surface. Made from ceramic, the mug is sized for everyday use — perfect for your morning coffee or afternoon tea ritual.
