CyberAgent announced on Friday that voice actor Yūichi Nakamura is joining the cast of the upcoming Kagurabachi television anime, based on the manga by Takeru Hokazono. Nakamura will voice Soshiro Azami, a sorcerer affiliated with the Kamunabi organization.

Story

The manga follows Chihiro, a young boy who trains under his renowned swordsmith father, dreaming of one day becoming a great sword-maker himself. Their cheerful, peaceful days are shattered without warning by a blood-soaked tragedy, leaving Chihiro and his blade driven solely by the desire for revenge. Epic sword-battle action ensues.

About the Manga

Hokazono launched Kagurabachi in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023. The 12th compiled volume went on sale in Japan on September 4. The series has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation (with over 2.2 million copies reported as of May 2025).

Viz Media publishes the manga in English both digitally via its Shonen Jump service and in print — the eighth volume released on August 4. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service also carries the series digitally in English.

The manga has earned considerable recognition: it topped the print category of the Next Manga Awards 2024, was nominated for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards (December 2024), the 49th Kodansha Manga Awards (April 2025), and the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, and ranked #13 in Da Vinci magazine’s top manga titles of 2025.
