The full-series rerun of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) aired episode 26, “A New Mission,” on October 4, 2025, bringing the Kamado Tanjiro Risshi-hen arc to a close and setting the stage for the Mugen Train arc.
About Kimetsu no Yaiba
Based on Gotouge Koyoharu‘s manga published by Shueisha in the Jump Comics label (23 volumes), the series has surpassed 220 million copies in circulation worldwide. The story follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons, as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps to find a cure for his sister Nezuko, who has been turned into a demon. Produced by ufotable, the anime has been running since April 2019. The latest theatrical film, Gekijouban “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Mugenjo-hen — Part 1: “Akaza Sairin” — opened in Japanese cinemas on July 18, 2025.
Muzan’s Power-Harassment Meeting
The episode’s standout moment is Kibutsuji Muzan‘s gathering of the five remaining Lower Moons (Kagen) of the Twelve Kizuki in a mysterious, warped space. Appearing in the form of a kimono-clad woman, Muzan commands them to prostrate themselves. The atmosphere is suffocating: speaking without permission earns a rebuke, private thoughts are read aloud, and agreeing or disagreeing with Muzan leads to the same deadly outcome. Japanese social media erupted with reactions, with fans calling it the “power-harassment meeting,” and noting that while Muzan’s logic is sometimes not entirely wrong, it is utterly unreasonable.
Cast Comments from the Lower Moon Voice Actors
The official Kimetsu no Yaiba account released comments from three voice actors who played Lower Moon demons in this episode:
- Hoshi Soichiro (Lower Moon Three) — known as Kira Yamato in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. He noted that despite the brief appearance, he still receives fan reactions to this day and plans to keep “bragging” about his role in the series.
- Ueda Kana (Lower Moon Four) — known as Tohsaka Rin in Fate/stay night and Nike in Wonderful Precure!. She revealed that she confidently tells people she appears in Kimetsu no Yaiba, but keeps quiet about the fact that her character dies within two to three minutes — “because that would be a spoiler!”
- KENN (Lower Moon Six) — known as Yuki Judai in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. He was struck by the sound design of sweat dripping on wooden floors and the tension of the bloodshed, and hopes his performance conveyed Muzan’s terrifying nature.
Tanjiro and Kanao’s Touching Farewell
After the grim meeting, the episode shifts to a warmer tone. Tanjiro, Agatsuma Zenitsu, and Hashibira Inosuke receive orders to rendezvous with Flame Hashira Rengoku Kyojuro to investigate the Mugen Train. Before departing, Tanjiro visits the Butterfly Estate to say goodbye to Kanroji Aoi and fellow survivor Tsuyuri Kanao. Kanao, unable to make decisions on her own, flips a coin even to decide whether to speak. Tanjiro gently suggests she flip a coin to decide whether to “start listening to her own heart from now on.” Fans were deeply moved, calling it the beginning of the two characters’ bond and praising Tanjiro’s quiet kindness.
Heading Into Mugen Train — Fans Brace Themselves
The episode ends with the trio boarding the Mugen Train. Fans who know what lies ahead expressed mixed emotions online: “No no no, I don’t want to watch this again~” and “I’m happy to see Rengoku-san, but it’s going to hurt so much.” To mark the start of the Mugen Train arc, the official account also released special messages from Matsuoka Yoshitsugu (voice of Inosuke) and Hino Satoshi (voice of Rengoku Kyojuro).
The full-series rerun began on April 5, 2025 — just one day before the seventh anniversary of the original broadcast on April 6, 2019. Don’t miss the Mugen Train arc as it continues next week.
