The anime adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends has announced additional cast and staff members, along with a delay of its exclusive Crunchyroll debut from 2027 to 2028.

Additional Staff

Newly confirmed crew members include Keiji Inai as music composer, known for his work on Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?, This Monster Wants to Eat Me, and The Beginning After The End. Yoshikazu Iwanami, whose credits include Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and KONOSUBA – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!!, joins as sound director. Yasumasa Koyama, who has worked on Ajin, Brave Bang Bravern!, and Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, takes on sound effects.

Calligrapher Gyousyou Suzuki, who previously handled lettering and calligraphy supervision for the Barakamon anime, has contributed the calligraphy for the anime’s Japanese title, 「黒雲綺譚」(Kuroudo Kitan).

Core Staff and Studio

The anime is directed by Takanobu Mizuno — known for the Star Wars: Visions “The Duel” short — at studio Kamikaze Douga, whose portfolio includes Batman Ninja, Sand Land, and the opening sequences of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The script is being written by Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi, with Urobuchi having previously been announced for story composition as well. Takashi Okazaki serves as character designer. HAYATE Inc. is overseeing production, with Aniplex collaborating on the project and Sony Music serving as the music and soundtrack partner.

About Ghost of Tsushima and Legends

Ghost of Tsushima, developed by Sucker Punch Productions and published by SIE, originally launched on PlayStation 4 in July 2020, followed by a PlayStation 5 version in August 2021 and a PC release in May 2024. The game fictionalizes the historical 1274 Mongol invasion of Tsushima Island, following samurai Jin Sakai — the sole survivor of his clan — as he wages a guerrilla war against the invaders. A sequel, Ghost of Yōtei, launched in October 2025, set over 300 years later in 1603 Hokkaido.

Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is a multiplayer expansion that debuted in October 2020 and became available as a standalone title in September 2021. Unlike the historical grounding of the base game, Legends draws on Japanese folklore and mythology — a thematic focus that the upcoming anime will carry forward.
