Rengoku Kyojuro เสาเปลวเพลิงจาก Kimetsu no Yaiba กำลังก้าวขึ้น Mugen Train พร้อมกล่องข้าวในมือ

The full-series rerun of Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) has officially entered the Mugen Train Arc, with Episode 1 — “Flame Hashira Rengoku Kyojuro” — airing on October 11, 2026. Fans flooded social media with reactions ranging from “I’m watching with total concentration!” to “Rengoku-saaan!” Many also noted that this opening episode is anime-original content not found in the manga. It’s worth remembering that the theatrical film Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba — The Movie: Mugen Train first opened on October 16, 2020 — six years ago now.

About Kimetsu no Yaiba

Based on the manga by Gotouge Koyoharu, the series follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is slaughtered by demons. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps (Kisatsutai) in hopes of returning his demon-transformed sister Nezuko to human form. The blend of poignant human-demon drama, breathtaking swordfighting, lovable characters, and well-timed comedy has driven the 23-volume manga — published by Shueisha under the Jump Comics label — to a cumulative print run exceeding 220 million copies.

Animated by ufotable, the series launched in April 2019. The latest entry, the theatrical trilogy Gekijouban “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Mugen Jou-hen, opened its first chapter “Akaza Sairin” on July 18, 2025.

Hino Satoshi as Rengoku Kyojuro

Ahead of the broadcast, Hino Satoshi — the voice of Rengoku Kyojuro — announced the rerun on social media with a flame emoji. Beyond Rengoku, Hino is known for Kamui in Gintama, Sawamura Daichi in Haikyuu!!, Shinkai Hayato in Yowamushi Pedal, Sai in NARUTO, and Takagi Akito in Bakuman.

“Delicious! Delicious! Delicious!”

The episode opens with Rengoku enthusiastically eating soba at a restaurant, repeatedly exclaiming how delicious it is. When a fellow Demon Slayer arrives, he generously orders the same dish for him. Over the meal, the soldier reports mysterious incidents on the Mugen Train — slashings and unexplained disappearances. Viewers were captivated by ufotable’s food animation, with comments like “That soba looks incredible,” “Stop the food porn first thing in the morning,” and “ufotable’s food quality never misses.”

Rengoku: Eccentric, Kind-Hearted, and Generous

At the train station, Rengoku encounters an elderly woman named Tomi and her granddaughter Fuku, who are selling boxed lunches. His blunt opener — “I’m looking for a demon. Have you seen one?” — drew laughs from viewers (“Way too direct lol” / “He really is a weirdo”). When Fuku throws a bread roll at him in frustration, he doesn’t flinch. And when she asks if he’d buy a lunch box, he declares, “Then I’ll take all of them!” — prompting fans to praise his big-heartedness: “He doesn’t even get mad after being hit with bread — what a gentleman” and “Buying every single box, what a legend.”

Inoue Kikuko as Tomi

The official Kimetsu no Yaiba account releases weekly cast comments to celebrate the rerun. This week’s comment comes from Inoue Kikuko, who voices the elderly vendor Tomi. Known for Tendo Kasumi in Ranma 1/2 and Macrophage in Hataraku Saibou, she is also making waves in 2026 as the Puppet Master in the summer anime Koukaku Kidoutai THE GHOST IN THE SHELL.

Inoue noted that “both Tomi and Fuku wear matching round glasses — that’s the heartwarming detail to watch for♪,” and added, “Even as a terrifying incident closes in… I hope everyone will keep a warm eye on these two selling their lunches so earnestly. Please enjoy the rerun!”

Minase Inori as Fuku

Minase Inori voices the granddaughter Fuku. She is beloved for Rem in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, Nakano Itsuki in The Quintessential Quintuplets, and Tamaki Mari in A Place Further Than the Universe, as well as her music career.

She shared a charming behind-the-scenes detail: “I actually have poor eyesight and usually wear round glasses during recording sessions… and Fuku-chan is also a glasses girl! I remember thinking it felt almost like face-casting — I felt such an instant connection to her design, and I still haven’t forgotten that feeling.”

The Chase and the Flame

Rengoku infiltrates the train maintenance yard under the guise of delivering lunch boxes, smoothly gathering intelligence — to fans’ amusement (“He lies so casually” / “He looks nothing like a lunch delivery person”). A high-speed demon then appears; even after losing an arm to Rengoku’s blade, it flees rapidly. Rengoku pursues using Total Concentration Breathing, prompting reactions like “High-speed Rengoku!!” and “Is that a speed booster?” When the demon doubles back to the station and lunges at Tomi and Fuku, Rengoku arrives just in time, declaring “You… are slow!” before severing its head with Flame Breathing, First Form — Unknowing Fire (Shiranui).

A Father’s Legacy

In the aftermath, Tomi recalls that 20 years ago, a man with yellow hair saved her and Fuku’s mother. When she tells Rengoku, he turns and replies: “That was surely my father. I have inherited his will and hunt demons in his place.”

The visual of Rengoku overlapping with the silhouette of his father moved viewers deeply: “The way his father’s image overlaps with his is such beautiful direction…” and “I love this scene where Shinzurou and Kyojuro merge together more than anything.”

“Please Don’t Get on That Train!”

Before parting, Tomi and Fuku press a lunch box into Rengoku’s hands. He promises to tell his father about them, then bids them farewell — “Take care. Let’s meet again” — and boards the Mugen Train as it departs. The sight triggered anguished cries of “No, don’t get on!” and “I have such a bad feeling about this…” alongside heartfelt praise: “Episode 1 of Mugen Train is just too good…” and “The fact that they built an entire original episode around the simple idea of the Flame Hashira boarding a train with a mountain of lunch boxes — the production team is truly something else.”

Rengoku’s “Delicious!” echoes through the train car as it pulls away. After the broadcast, Hino Satoshi posted: “Now I want soba, anpan, and a beef bento all at once — tough choice for breakfast.” More than a few fans replied that they’d be having beef bento for lunch.

What’s Next

The full-series rerun began on April 5 — just one day before the seventh anniversary of the original April 6, 2019 premiere. Episode 2 of the Mugen Train Arc, “Deep Sleep,” will reunite viewers with Tanjiro and the gang.
