Anime Inuyasha (犬夜叉) is available for unlimited streaming on DMM TV, U-NEXT, and Hulu in Japan. The information below covers the full TV series of 167 episodes, updated as of October 2026. It does not include Inuyasha: The Final Act (犬夜叉 完結編), the theatrical films, or Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon.

Why DMM TV Stands Out
Among the unlimited-streaming options, DMM TV offers the lowest monthly fee at just ¥550. Subscribers can watch all 167 episodes at their own pace with no additional charges. The 14-day free trial is enough to sample the opening arc (“Encounter Arc,” episodes 1–44) before committing. DMM TV’s anime catalogue spans both classic long-running series from the 2000s and current seasonal titles.
U-NEXT and Hulu: Who Are They For?
U-NEXT suits viewers who want anime, films, and dramas all in one place. At ¥2,189/month it is pricier, but the 31-day free trial and ¥500 bonus points offer good value for exploring its broad catalogue.
Hulu is operated by Nippon Television and is a strong choice for fans of Japanese TV dramas and variety shows alongside anime. At ¥1,320/month, it has no free trial period.
Rental Options: Amazon Prime Video and TSUTAYA DISCAS
Amazon Prime Video is ideal for viewers who want to revisit specific episodes — such as the battles against the Band of Seven or the confrontations with Sesshomaru — without a monthly subscription. For watching all 167 episodes, an unlimited plan is more cost-effective.
TSUTAYA DISCAS is suited to those without a fast internet connection or who prefer watching on a DVD player. There are no late-return penalties.
Story and Highlights
Inuyasha is based on the manga by Rumiko Takahashi, serialised in Weekly Shōnen Sunday (Shogakukan). The TV anime aired on Yomiuri TV / Nippon TV from 2000, running for 167 episodes, and was animated by Sunrise.
Synopsis: Ninth-grader Kagome Higurashi is pulled through a well into Japan’s Sengoku period, where she frees the half-demon boy Inuyasha from a 50-year seal placed by the shrine maiden Kikyo. The sacred Shikon Jewel hidden within Kagome shatters during a demon attack, scattering its shards across the land. Kagome and Inuyasha set out to recover every fragment, joined by the fox-demon kit Shippo, the wind-tunnel monk Miroku, and the demon-slayer Sango, all while pursuing the arch-villain Naraku, who manipulated Inuyasha and Kikyo half a century ago.
Key highlights include the love triangle between Inuyasha, Kagome, and Kikyo; Inuyasha’s rivalry with his half-brother Sesshomaru over the demon sword Tessaiga; and battles against Naraku’s incarnations and the Band of Seven. The series is divided into four arcs: Encounter Arc (eps. 1–44), Battle Arc (eps. 45–87), Band of Seven Arc (eps. 88–127), and Growth Arc (eps. 128–167).
