The official ABEMA Anime Channel on X has published its “Top 3 Most-Commented Scenes” survey for Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) Episode 52 (Season 3, Episode 4), titled “The Last Book,” which aired on Friday, 23 October.

About Kusuriya no Hitorigoto

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto is based on the novel series by Hinata Natsu. Set in the imperial court’s inner palace, it follows Maomao, a young apothecary who becomes a food taster and uses her extensive knowledge of medicine and poisons to solve a string of mysterious cases. The series is beloved for Maomao’s sharp deductive skills and her comedic exchanges with the handsome eunuch Jinshi.

The story is also serialized as manga in both Big Gangan (Square Enix) and Sunday GX (Shogakukan), with cumulative series sales surpassing 57 million copies. Season 3 of the TV anime began airing in October 2026, and the franchise’s first theatrical film, Gekijouban Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Bouhi no Hihou, is scheduled for release in December.

The scene that generated the most comments was Maomao feeding Jinshi a grasshopper, which sent viewers into a frenzy of reactions. Close behind was the reveal of Maomao’s taste in men through a hand-drawn portrait, followed by the intriguing first appearance of the enigmatic Bai Niangniang.
