TV Asahi has released a teaser trailer, key visual, and additional cast details for the second season of the Akane-banashi television anime, based on the manga written by Yūki Suenaga and illustrated by Takamasa Moue.
Premiere Date and Story
Season 2 is set to debut in January 2027. The new season picks up after the conclusion of the first season’s Karaku Cup Arc.
(Note: The following synopsis contains spoilers for the end of Season 1.)
What you’re about to experience is nothing less than the living history of Rakugo.
After graduating high school, Akane Osaki — inspired by her Rakugoka father and determined to become a Shin’uchi — officially joins Shiguma’s school and takes the new name Akane Arakawa. She arrives at Yasaka-tei, a traditional and lively Rakugo theater, where she begins her training surrounded by Shin’uchi performers. Season 2 launches the Zenza Arc, a full-fledged Rakugo story in which master storytellers compete.
