Retro teen apparel brand ANGEL BLUE — born in 1989 and a cultural phenomenon throughout the 1990s and early 2000s — has announced a collaboration with the theatrical anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten, bringing a full lineup of merchandise featuring brand-new illustrations of the series’ beloved magical girls dressed in the brand’s signature Heisei-era aesthetic.
About the Film
Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica: Walpurgis no Kaiten is a completely new theatrical anime entry in the Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica franchise, reuniting core staff members Shinbo Akiyuki, Gen Urobuchi, and Aoki Ume. A direct sequel to the shocking finale of [Shinpen] Hangyaku no Monogatari (2013), the film opened on August 28. It follows Homura, who became a devil out of her devotion to Madoka, as a new world takes shape and the magical girls once again take the stage — the gears of the Madoka☆Magica universe slowly beginning to turn once more.
Collaboration Highlights
The collab pairs ANGEL BLUE’s original mascot character Nakamura-kun with Kaname Madoka, Akemi Homura, Tomoe Mami, Miki Sayaka, and Sakura Kyoko. Goods are centered on newly drawn (描き下ろし) illustrations of all five magical girls, as well as newly drawn chibi character art featuring Nakamura-kun alongside the cast.
