AnimEigo used its Otakon 2026 panel on Friday to announce the licensing of five anime titles, all slated for Blu-ray Disc release in 2027.
Antique Bakery
The 12-episode Antique Bakery series, based on Fumi Yoshinaga‘s 1999 manga, will come to Blu-ray in 2027. The anime first aired in 2008 and follows Ono, a world-class pastry chef whose irresistible charm meets its match when he takes a job under Tachibana — the one man who rejected him back in high school. Right Stuf / Nozomi Entertainment previously released the series on DVD in 2011 and 2014.
Dog of Flanders: The Movie
Dog of Flanders: The Movie, a 1997 remake of the beloved 1975 anime series, will arrive in late 2027 with a brand-new 4K restoration. The release will include both the uncut original version and the edited Pioneer English dub featuring Robert Loggia as Grandpa Jehan Daas. The film tells the emotionally resonant story of a boy and his loyal dog in a 19th-century Flemish village near Antwerp, and the boy’s dream of becoming a great classical painter. Both the series and film are based on Marie Louisa De La Ramée‘s (pen name: Ouida) 1872 novel. Geneon Entertainment released the film on DVD in 2000.
ReLIFE
AnimEigo will release a new comprehensive edition of ReLIFE, bundling the 13-episode television series and the four-episode OVA finale, with both subtitled and dubbed versions included. The 2016 comedy, adapted from Yayoiso‘s manga, centers on Arata Kaizaki, a 27-year-old unemployed man who joins an experimental rehabilitation program. He takes a drug that makes him appear ten years younger and re-enrolls in high school for one year. The anime debuted in full on the Comico app in June 2016, followed by a television broadcast the next month. The four-episode finale was released on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan in 2018.
Ruin Explorers – Fam & Ihrie
The four-part OVA Ruin Explorers – Fam & Ihrie will receive an HD restoration for its 2027 Blu-ray release. Originally released in 1995, the fantasy series follows two female treasure hunters, Fam and Ihrie, on a quest to find the “Ultimate Power.” The OVA was written and directed by Takeshi Mori (Gunsmith Cats, Otaku no Video, Vandread), with music by composer Masamichi Amano (Battle Royale, Giant Robo). ADV Films released it on DVD in 2000 and 2004, and Maiden Japan followed with a DVD release in 2013.
Welcome to Irabu’s Office
Welcome to Irabu’s Office (Japanese title: Kūchū Buranko) will make its North American home video debut on Blu-ray in 2027, complete with a newly produced English dub from AnimEigo. Based on Hideo Okuda‘s short story collection Kūchū Buranko (Trapeze), the series follows the eccentric, childlike psychiatrist Dr. Ichiro Irabu as he treats patients whose psychological stress manifests in bizarre physical symptoms. The series aired in October 2009 on Fuji TV’s late-night Noitamina block, directed by Kenji Nakamura and featuring character designs by Takashi Hashimoto — both of whom previously collaborated on Ayakashi – Samurai Horror Tales and Mononoke — produced at Toei Animation. Australian distributor Siren Visual released the series on DVD in February 2011.
