The TV anime adaptation of Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou (The Case Files of the Biblia Secondhand Bookshop) has been officially confirmed for an April 2027 broadcast. Alongside the announcement, the production released its first main promotional video, character visuals for leads Shinokawa Shioriko and Inoue Daisuke, and the names of four additional cast members.
About the Series
Based on the light novel series by Mikami En, published under KADOKAWA’s MediaWorks Bunko imprint, the franchise has sold a cumulative 8.5 million copies and is celebrating the 15th anniversary of its first volume this year. Set in a quiet corner of Kamakura, the story centers on Shinokawa Shioriko, the soft-spoken owner of the secondhand bookshop Biblia Koshodou, who possesses an uncanny ability to unravel the hidden secrets and stories locked within old books.
First PV
The first main PV carries the tagline “その指先が、秘密をめくる──” (“Those fingertips turn the pages of secrets──”). In addition to Shioriko and her assistant Inoue Daisuke, the video features new characters Shinokawa Fumika, Shida, Kasai Kikuya, and Kosuge Nao.
Character Visuals
Official character visuals for Shinokawa Shioriko and Inoue Daisuke have been unveiled, depicting each character holding a book — a fitting image for a mystery series built around the secrets hidden within old volumes.
Additional Cast
- Shinokawa Fumika — voiced by Osanai Reo
- Shida — voiced by Takagi Wataru
- Kasai Kikuya — voiced by Azagami Yohei
- Kosuge Nao — voiced by Kamijo Saeko
Osanai Reo, who plays Fumika — Shioriko’s younger sister — described the character as “a bright, sociable girl” whose personality is “the complete opposite” of her elder sister, while noting that the warm bond between the two siblings is one of the story’s charms. She expressed excitement at seeing the world of the series brought to life through animation.
Takagi Wataru noted that Shida may look suspicious at first glance, but his passion for books and skill as a secondhand book dealer are second to none. He said he greatly enjoyed trading lines with the rest of the cast during recording.
Azagami Yohei shared that working on the series prompted him to pick up a physical novel for the first time in a while, rediscovering the pleasure of turning paper pages. His character, Kasai Kikuya, is a book dealer whom Shida nicknames “Baron.”
Kamijo Saeko recalled that when she first encountered Kosuge Nao on the page, she felt an immediate protective instinct toward the character. That feeling drove her through the audition process, and upon receiving her acceptance, she immediately reached for the original novel to reunite with the character she had come to treasure.
