The theatrical film Chiikawa Movie: Himitsu of the Mermaid Island (映画ちいかわ 人魚の島のひみつ), based on Nagano’s original manga, has announced its 5th attendance gift: a special 52-page booklet titled “Himitsubon” (Secret Book), to be distributed at cinemas from September 19.
What’s Inside the Himitsubon
The booklet is packed with exclusive content for fans, including:
- Original story illustrations drawn by Nagano during the planning stages of the “Siren Arc.” These include the artwork behind intriguing details mentioned in Nagano’s long interview on the official film website — such as the period when “that child” was considered in place of the Siren, and when characters Hitoha and Futaba still had distinct faces and lines of dialogue.
- A manga titled Ode to the Island (「オデと島」)
- An essay manga titled Mucha Uma Diary (「むちゃうま日記」), drawn by Nagano exclusively for this booklet
Official LINE Stickers Also Launching
Alongside the booklet, official LINE stickers based on the film are going on sale. The sets feature the Chiikawa characters’ various expressions and memorable lines from the Siren Arc, available in static, animated, and voice/sound-effect versions.

- Animated stickers with voice and sound effects: on sale from September 17 at 11:00 a.m.
About the Film
Chiikawa Movie: Himitsu of the Mermaid Island adapts the long-form “Siren Arc” from Nagano’s beloved Chiikawa manga into a full-length animated feature. The story follows Chiikawa and friends as they join a summer island camp, only to be swept up in a plan to defeat a Siren that has been abducting the island’s inhabitants one by one. The film opened nationwide in Japan on July 24 and, over its first 52 days through September 13, has grossed ¥14.66 billion at the box office with a total audience of over 10 million.
