The official website for the television anime adaptation of Destiny Unchain Online: How I Became the Crimson Devil (Destiny Unchain Online: Kyūketsuki Shōjo to Natte, Yagate “Aka no Maō” to Yobareru Yō ni Narimashita) — the light novel series written by resn and illustrated by Yachimoto — has unveiled the show’s first teaser promotional video, a key visual, a 2027 premiere window, and the main staff and lead cast member.
Cast & Staff
Ikumi Hasegawa will voice the lead role of Crim / Kou Mitsuki. The anime is being produced at studio Voil under the direction of Kōichi Hatsumi, known for Deadman Wonderland and Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga.

Story
Kou Mitsuki is a supremely skilled gamer known online as Crim the Headhunter. When he begins beta-testing his father’s new title, Destiny Unchain Online, alongside a newly developed VR device, a system bug transforms him into a vampire girl. His world turned upside down, Kou forges new friendships and dives headfirst into the game in what promises to be the ultimate gamer adventure.
Source Material
Author resn originally began serializing the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in May 2020. After deleting his profile and removing the story from that platform, he resumed serialization on Kadokawa’s Kakuyomu website in June 2021. Kodansha published the first print volume in November 2022, with the third volume shipping on May 29. Yachimoto, who also drew the novel illustrations, launched a manga adaptation in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket app in July 2022 and simultaneously in the digital magazine Shōnen Magazine R from August 2022. Following Shōnen Magazine R’s discontinuation, the manga now runs exclusively on Magazine Pocket. The 13th compiled volume was released on August 7.
