The production team behind Detective Conan: 30-gō Satsujin Jiken (The Counterfeit Case of Ultra 30) has unveiled a promotional video, a main visual, and theme song details for the upcoming anime special — the franchise’s first two-hour television special in ten years.
Mai Kuraki Performs Opening Theme “Hallelujah”
Veteran artist Mai Kuraki will perform the opening theme song, titled “Hallelujah,” marking yet another collaboration between the singer and the long-running Detective Conan franchise.
Story
The special sees Conan and his companions facing a national-scale threat: the circulation of counterfeit currency. Their investigation takes them to the National Printing Bureau in Nagano Prefecture, after which Conan and Heiji travel to Osaka, where the fake bills are believed to have been produced.
About the Franchise
Manga creator Gōshō Aoyama launched the series in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shounen Sunday magazine in 1994. A television anime adaptation has aired continuously since January 1996, accompanied by an annual theatrical film series. In English-speaking markets, Viz Media publishes the manga under the title Case Closed — the localized name originally coined by Funimation.
The story follows Conan Edogawa, the alias of teenage detective Shinichi Kudo, whose body was shrunk by poison at the outset of the series. Alongside private detective Kogoro Mori and his daughter Ran, Conan assists the police in cracking difficult cases.
