The theatrical anime film Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e (For You, Who Are in a Place Farther Than Anywhere) has released its main trailer and official key visual. Alongside these, four additional cast members have been announced, and the theme song has been confirmed.

Main Trailer and Key Visual

The main trailer features protagonist Tsukigase Kazuki and the mysterious girl Akika Nanao, who meet at the so-called “Cove of Spiriting Away” on the remote island of Tokishima, where the story is set. The footage also hints at the burden of Kazuki’s past and Nanao’s sense of unease about the island. The key visual was drawn by Hechima, who serves as character designer and chief animation director on the film.

New Cast Members

• Uesaka Sumire — as Mishima Tamaki, a bright honor student and classmate at Tokishima High School
• Hatano Wataru — as Aiba Shuji, a good-natured and straightforward young man
• Okamoto Nobuhiko — as Yano Akimitsu, Kazuki’s friend
• Matsuoka Yoshitsugu — as Suka Yoshiki, who harbors a grudge against Kazuki

Previously announced cast members include Ishibashi Hikaru, Nagase Anna, Tsuchiya Kanaba, Fujiki Naohito (special appearance), and Tamaki Hiroshi.

Theme Song

The theme song has been confirmed as “Olive” by artist Tota, who also composed the in-film song “Hōsenka.”

Uesaka Sumire (Tamaki)

Tamaki is a cheerful, cute honor student, but she also has a delicate inner life that I found deeply relatable. The story woven on this uniquely beautiful island is truly heart-wrenching. I hope everyone gets to see it on the big screen!

Hatano Wataru (Shuji)

When I first read the script at the audition, I was immediately excited — it had all the elements I love: a protagonist with a secret, a mysterious girl, a beautiful remote island, and a legend of spiriting away. I tried to convey the easygoing warmth that Shuji developed growing up at Tokishima’s unhurried pace.

Okamoto Nobuhiko (Akimitsu)

The work has a nostalgic atmosphere where the extraordinary blends seamlessly into the everyday. The story kicks off when the protagonist meets a girl on the beach, and her identity remains a central mystery throughout. It will especially resonate with fans of coming-of-age sci-fi.

Matsuoka Yoshitsugu (Yoshiki)

I think this work reflects modern society in a certain way — a single grudge can turn a person’s entire life upside down, and it may not even be their own fault. My character will probably make audiences angry, but I performed him with everything I had and have no regrets.

Tota (Theme Song Artist)

I’m honored to have contributed both an in-film song and the theme song. While writing “Olive,” I found several points of connection between myself and Kazuki. To me, the olive evokes “peace” and “rebirth.” I hope everyone receives both the film and “Olive” with open hands.

Film Details

Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e is based on the novel by Abe Akiko, published under Shueisha’s Orange Bunko imprint. The story follows Kazuki, who leaves the city to attend high school on the island of Tokishima, where he encounters Nanao, a girl who claims to have come from the year 1974.
