The Furuyu Kingdom Onsen-kyo (古湯キングダム温泉郷) event, celebrating Yasuhisa Hara’s manga Kingdom, is currently running along the main street of the Furuyu hot-spring district in Fujimachi, Saga City, Saga Prefecture, through September 30.
Background
The event is a new initiative under the broader prefectural collaboration project Kingdom × (Kakeru) Saga Prefecture — “Do Not Let the Fires of Saga Die Out!”, which pairs the Kingdom franchise with Saga’s tourism promotion efforts. Furuyu Kingdom Onsen-kyo is the latest addition to that ongoing project.
Event Highlights
- Kingdom-themed entrance gate — The main gate to the Furuyu district has been fully decorated in Kingdom livery.
- Giant Oki panel — A massive artwork of General Oki (王騎), approximately 9 metres wide and 8 metres tall, has been painted on the wall of SAGA FURUYU CAMP, bearing the caption “でかすぎて解からねェ!!!” (“It’s too big to comprehend!!!”).
- 17 street-lamp flags — Kingdom-illustrated banners line both sides of the onsen street.
- Foot-bath photo spot with Karyoten (河了貂) — Visitors can soak their feet and pose for photos alongside a life-size panel of the character.
- Bus-stop panel — A display featuring Xin (信), Obon (王賁), and Moten (蒙恬) standing as if waiting for a bus.
Stamp Rally
Stamp stations are set up throughout the district. Each time visitors overlay a new stamp, another member of the Flying Arrow Unit (飛信隊) appears, until all the stamps together form one complete illustration.
Prizes and Special Offers
Guests who stay overnight or spend ¥1,500 (tax included) or more at participating shops in the Furuyu district are entered into a lottery for Kingdom collaboration merchandise. A newly added prize is the “Oki’s Bath — Original Collab Sticker.”
At shops and restaurants inside Saga Airport, customers spending ¥1,000 (tax included) or more receive a collab sticker — now updated to a brand-new design.
Kingdom fans planning a trip to Saga before the end of September won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind onsen experience.
