The original anime film GROTESQQQUE -グロテスク- has released the first trailer for one of its three segments, “Eliyans,” and announced the composers behind its score.

About Eliyans

Set in a world rife with prejudice and fear toward extraterrestrials, “Eliyans” follows Elly, an alien girl, as she teams up with Kunizo Kento, a civil servant working at a space agency, on a frantic search for “friends.” The trailer showcases Elly sprinting through city streets at full speed, Kento pressing a critical button with a look of grim determination, and a comedic scene in which Elly lets loose a massive sneeze.

Soundtrack by sabio/Takamura Futa and SEE

The score for “Eliyans” is composed by Takamura Futa under his solo project name sabio, alongside SEE. Both composers shared comments about the project.

sabio/Takamura Futa: “This is my first time composing a film score. From the moment I first saw the storyboards I was filled with excitement, and I had a great time thinking about what kind of music would best accompany this work. I’m looking forward to seeing the pop and cute Elly and friends on the big screen!”

SEE: “Cute Elly, eerie Elly, free-spirited Elly, sentimental Elly — I was so excited to write music for all the many sides of an alien who is unmistakably out-of-this-world even while living on Earth. I kept imagining, ‘This is probably the kind of sound that would come out of Elly,’ throughout the whole process. Please pay close attention to the score as well!”

Film Overview

Directed, written, and with original character concepts by Nishigori Atsushi and produced by CloverWorks under the planning and production of JOEN and Aniplex, GROTESQQQUE is an anthology of three segments: “Eliyans,” “夜露死駆★少女 (Yoroshiku★Shojo),” and “ノクターン～このグロテスクな夜に～ (Nocturne ~In This Grotesque Night~).” The film opens November 6, 2026, distributed by ANIMEC.
