The official key visual for the upcoming TV anime Hotaru no Yomeiri (ホタルの嫁入り) has been released, offering fans a striking first look at the series. The image depicts Shinpei drenched in blood spatter alongside Satoko, who is dressed in a traditional white wedding kimono (shiromuku), capturing the story’s blend of danger and forbidden romance.
Story
Set during the Meiji era as Western civilization begins to transform Japan, the story follows Kirigaya Satoko, a young noblewoman who dreams of marrying into a prestigious family to become a source of pride for her beloved father. However, fate leads her into a forbidden contract marriage with Goto Shinpei, a devoted assassin who is utterly infatuated with her.
The series is based on the manga by Tachibana Oreko, published by Shogakukan under the “Manga One Comics” label. The manga currently spans 11 volumes, with the first volume released on June 19, 2023.

Hotaru no Yomeiri is scheduled to premiere on Fuji TV on Friday, October 9, 2026, airing every Friday at 23:30 JST as part of the Fall 2026 anime season.
